Introducing Patriarchs
A Series of Seven Worksheets for BGE
This is a series of seven worksheets created as stand alone 45-60 minute lessons for pupils in the BGE phase of Secondary Schools in Scotland. (11-14 year olds) They may be used as a series of lessons together on the Patriarchs each one building through the story of the first great Patriarch - Abraham.
Each double sided A4 sheet is designed around a specific section of the text telling the Story of Abraham. Using the text from t he Bible it encourages children to develop their Literacy skills and the initial questions are constructed to re-inforce learning and develop skills in comprehension and understanding. The final question / task moves in a creative direction.
The second part of the worksheet contains some additional information on a related topic. In this case it focuses on the mythology of ancient Mesopotamia and adds depth to the context in which Abraham’s tory unfolds. The questions / tasks here are more varied and designed to stretch pupils in their thinking and imagination. They might be attempted in any order the pupil wishes and to the depth complexity they desire.
