Introducing Patriarchs II
A Series of Eight Worksheets for BGE
The next person to receive the Patriarchs treatment is Joseph. These worksheets break down the story of Joseph into eight sections. Again each lesson / sheet is designed for a 45-60 minute slot for pupils in the BGE phase of Secondary Schools in Scotland. (11-14 year olds). They may be used as a series of lessons on the individual Patriarch or individual lessons building over the course of a year to cover the life of the great Patriarch – Joseph.
These sheets are designed around a specific moment of the text to encourage developing literacy skills and foster understanding. Using the text from the Bible students are encouraged to read thoughtfully and carefully the story. The standard questions seek to develop knowledge and understanding and the final task / question moves the learning into the reflective / creative sphere.
The second part of the worksheet includes information about extended family and connections. This shows the wider context and forms the basis for looking at other relationships in the Bible as well as laying the foundational ideas for the tribes of Israel. These tasks can be undertaken in any order and allow children to explore learning styles while greater challenge may be provided through encouragement to explore differing tasks.
Other pages in t he series include:
Joseph’s Dreams
Joseph and his Brothers
Joseph in prison
Pharaoh’s Dreams
